April–May: A Necessary Pause
April–May: A Necessary Pause
If you’ve noticed things have been a little quieter than usual around here, you’re not wrong. This isn’t a rebrand, a pivot, or a dramatic exit. It’s something far less exciting and far more human: capacity.
The months of April and May are going to be sporadic for posts.
Right now, my time is being pulled in several directions that all matter and all demand attention. The Texas Veterans Commission grant cycle alone is not a light lift. Reviewing, scoring, documenting, and preparing recommendations across hundreds of applications is detailed, high-stakes work that requires focus and integrity. It is volunteer service, but it carries real responsibility.
Layer on top of that the realities of everyday life. Personal commitments that cannot be rescheduled. A job search that requires time, energy, and persistence. Family health issues that do not politely wait for a more convenient season. None of these are optional, and none of them can be done halfway.
So something has to give, at least temporarily.
That “something” is the consistency of posting here.
Free-Range Advocate is not going anywhere. The work, the mission, and the voice behind it are very much intact. But for the next couple of months, the pace will be uneven. Some weeks may be quiet. Others may bring a post that clearly came from someone running on caffeine and stubbornness.
This pause is not about stepping away. It is about stepping back just enough to get my house in order, regroup, and process everything currently in motion. Because the truth is, pushing through at full speed without that reset doesn’t produce better work. It just produces burnout with a Wi-Fi connection.
And frankly, I’d prefer to avoid that particular achievement.
For those who follow, read, share, and engage with this space, thank you. Your patience during this stretch is appreciated more than you probably realize.
Things will stabilize. The work will continue. And when it does, it will be with the same clarity and purpose this platform was built on.
Just… maybe with slightly better sleep and a little less chaos.
Until then, expect thoughtful, just not frequent.
