Modern dragons live in research tabs.
In bill text.
In budget tables.
In footnotes.
In follow-up emails.
In late-night writing sessions connecting dots others would prefer remain scattered.
Yes, much of the work happens behind a keyboard.
That does not make it performative.
It makes it precise.
Documentation Is Discipline
Fire without documentation is noise.
Fire with receipts is reform.
Advocacy requires:
Reading the legislation.
Tracking the funding.
Comparing the promise to the implementation.
Following up when timelines slip.
Documenting inconsistencies.
It is not about yelling louder.
It is about being correct.
Accuracy is power.
Why Receipts Matter
When you criticize a system, someone will say:
“That’s not accurate.”
“That’s out of context.”
“That’s political.”
Receipts eliminate that escape hatch.
Citations.
Data.
Language straight from statute.
Budget numbers pulled from official documents.
That is not rage.
That is rigor.
Fire With Aim
A dragon that breathes fire blindly is dangerous.
A dragon that studies the structure first is effective.
Before you apply heat, you understand:
Where the weakness is.
How it formed.
Who it affects.
What would fix it.
That is the difference between venting and advocacy.
Bipartisan and Evidence-Based
Facts do not belong to a party.
Structural flaws do not care who controls the chamber.
If a policy harms families, the evidence should show it.
If reform strengthens outcomes, the data should reflect it.
Receipts make advocacy less emotional and more durable.
And durable reform is what veteran and survivor families need.
The Real Work
Researching.
Writing.
Emailing.
Following up.
Tracking votes.
Comparing implementation to intent.
It may not look dramatic.
But it is disciplined.
It is sustained.
And it is far more powerful than empty outrage.
If there is going to be fire this month, it will be controlled, documented, and directed at systems that require repair.
Because dragons do not guess.
They verify.
